The history of the artist and the pastel portrait has been lost in time, but art critics have recorded the artist came from the German School (a group of artists who were part of the New Objectivity Movement and focused on portraying realism in art). The artist was most likely a professional portraitist.
The pastel drawing is an endearing portrait of a young boy with a large, black bow around his neck - a beautiful and masterful portrayal of youth.
