Born in Moscow 1948, daughter of the painter Josif Gurwic, her master and colleague. Despite growing up in a family filled with artists, she picked up her brushes quite late as opposed to her brother who painted from his early childhood. Nevertheless, her first mentor was her father Josif.
According to Roberto Celano, in Gurwic works the reds and the greys are so perfectly arranged that they seem to dance in a Russian Ball that invites people to a festival of words, with the paintings being the speakers. It is a musical climax, an orchestral apotheosis.
