Songnyeo Lyoo is a Korean artist who majored in Buddhist Art at Dong-guk University College of Arts, Seoul, Korea, and went on to study painting at the Academy of Art & Design Offenbach, Germany.
These works depict a series of individual, dream-like utopias. In utopia the observer dreams their own paradise where nature, animals and humans can coexist and merge. The natural environment is particularly important as it provides a scenario in which everything can coexist. The bright colours and objects in the painting represent not only one’s own ideas of utopia, but also the depth of the space and of the fantasy.
