Antonio Lopez Reche
Antonio finished his Fine Arts degree in 1999 at Barcelona's University and his Erasmus exchange at Central St Martins in London where his research in the field of sculpture focused mainly on installation and conceptual art. Antonio's work has evolved considerably into further fields.
Antonio's work has since evolved considerably into further fields. While still producing non-figurative pieces, his main focus over the past eighteen years has been to develop a body of work with mythology as the central theme of his figurative bronzes.
While mythology might be the central theme for this group of works, their essence derives from the actual act of modelling. Antonio creates forms that convey movement and strength, and demonstrate his interest in capturing the rawness of materials such as clay, wax or plaster into bronze, and the expressive energy of tools marks and spontaneous modelling.
Antonio's work is featured in many collections around Europe, the United States and Hong Kong, as well as in UK galleries. His work can be also viewed by appointment in his South East London studio where he works in collaboration with his clients on specific site-related projects and other private commissions.
Antonio has lived and worked in South East London since 1995.
