BASIC ART PORTFOLIO COURSE - LONDON

 

During this course, you will focus on developing ideas and learning how to express them using a variety of media. You will also work alongside your assigned tutor to assemble these new projects in a portfolio.

This short portfolio course will allow you to prepare a few high standard projects for your portfolio. You will also explore incredible new techniques, materials to develop your own concepts and ideas.

You will be provided with one to one sessions where you can go through the structure and purpose of your portfolio. During the group lessons, you will have time to revise, develop, and expand the projects you will be working on during your one to one sessions.

Onsite & Online Virtual Art Courses

All of our art courses can be learnt in our central London art studio at Sunny Art Centre or remotely online via our live online teaching platform. The live online art tuition will follow the same structure as our on-site sessions. You can, therefore, have live interactive 1-1 and group art lessons with our expert art tutors remotely, wherever you are.

How are the live online courses structured?

You will receive structured lessons with reference images, concept and technique documents, short demonstration videos, plus live demos from your tutor and critiques.

Live Demonstration 

Demonstration with traditional drawing/painting medium techniques: Our tutor will set up the camera to live record the demonstration during the art lesson. 

Demonstration with Photoshop :

  1. Screenshot student’s work in progress 
  2. The tutor will screen share their computer screen live with students 
  3. Correct students' work live with Photoshop; this software provides an assortment of traditional drawing and painting brush effects, allowing tutors to paint/draw digitally with academic drawing /painting techniques.

Screen Share  : Allows our tutors to share their computer screen with remote students during live sessions for explanations and critiques
Screenshot / Screen Recording  :  Allows you to record any useful info during the virtual class
Group Learning: Monitor your classmate’s working progress and learn from their critiques.

All lessons (1-1 and group) last 2 hours.

One to one classes can be booked at mutually convenient times. For this reason, there is no fixed timetable. Check the '3 Minutes to Sign Up' section below to learn more about how to book your private classes.

For your reference, you can book one to one classes to attend at the centre or through the Live Online Tuition Service between the following times:

Mon-Fri: between 10am - 6pm (last class beginning at 4pm)
Sat-Sun: between 10am - 5pm (last class beginning at 3pm)

You will be able to book our regular group classes via your online account at any time once you are fully registered for the course. You can book any of the group time slots (subject to availability - max 10 students for on-site per lesson and max 7 students for live online per lesson). The timetable of our group classes is as follows:

Mon-Fri: between 4 - 6pm and/or 6:30 - 8:30pm
Sat-Sun: between 10am - 12pm, 1 - 3pm and/or 3:30 - 5:30pm

COVID-19 | On-site Art Lessons Update

  • All of our on-site group and one to one art lessons( Mo - Sun) are available to attend live online during the lockdown, and the scheduled online art classes will remain the same. 
  • 80 extra days will be granted automatically into your online account to ensure you could have sufficient time to use your art course credits. 

Additional Services

The additional services below will help students that require extra support with interviews, portfolio editing and/or digital portfolio preparation. You can add these additional services to your course. Our tutors will support and help you through these services towards the end of your course so that you can have everything ready by the end of it. 

INTERVIEW SUPPORT

£600.00 (exc. VAT)

Our professional team will prepare you for the interview process, advising you on the most frequently asked questions during an interview and will test you during mock interviews. This will give you an opportunity to strengthen your confidence and know more about how interviews are held.

We are here to help to:

  • Organise and reorganise your digital portfolio
  • Make your body of work more coherent in selection
  • Enhance the impact of your work
  • Make you feel more comfortable about your application process
  • Provide you with skills for the interview process
  • Target your strengths and weaknesses through mock interviews

EDITORIAL SERVICE

£1,000.00 (exc. VAT)

This service is structured so to guide students with the editing and/or translation of their written statements for each project included in their portfolio. Many universities require statements and/or entries to accompany each project in order to clearly state the conceptual framework and ideas that encompass the work presented to them. Therefore, we will also guide students so that they can use the appropriate terminology to enhance the quality of their writing.

Overall, we will:

  • Mentor you with the editing of your personal statement
  • Target specific terminologies and narratives for your projects and/or artworks
  • Assist you with translations and language issues if you are applying from outside of the UK

DIGITAL PORTFOLIO SERVICE

£1,500.00 (exc. VAT)

We will assist you with the preparation of selecting images and their layouts, starting from your photographic material taken from both your sketchbooks and finished projects. We will assist the student using high standard software such as Adobe’s Creative Cloud to enhance the final product.

Remember that digital portfolios are the first thing many universities see, sometimes even before the interview process itself. It is then important that you have a professional digital body of work. At the same time, every college/university has different requirements in what they want to see in a digital portfolio.

Overall, we will:

  • Go through your body of work in order to select the appropriate material for your digital portfolio
  • Help with rendering your projects in digital format with the help of our photography team
  • Support you during the preparation of digital layouts
  • Help you with the targeting of the specific requirements of every university from your five choices and edit your work accordingly
  • Help you comprehend editorial processes using software such as Adobe Photoshop and InDesign
