CENTRAL LONDON ART CLASSES FOR KIDS / CHILDREN & TEENS

Our kids/children and teens art courses are among the leading drawing and painting art classes in London.  The art classes have been designed by our expert art tutors who come with educational backgrounds from the most prestigious institutions in the world such as the Royal Academy in London, the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and Athens Academy of Art in Greece. The classes are structured so as to guarantee personalised and individual tuition that provides the highest standards in fine art training. The small groups (maximum of 10 students per art class) allow us to dedicate the necessary time that is needed for the development of each student.

We understand that young art students need to express themselves through drawing and painting and our courses are designed to provide them with tuition that can cultivate  their creative approach to the world.

Why Study Art From an Early Age?

Art is a powerful tool that helps kids and teenagers to process their experiences and deal with their emotions. Art classes also provide beneficial sensory input that can galvanise their imagination and creativity.

Drawing and painting lessons are a way for children  and teens to engage their curiosity and develop a process of imaginative thinking. These two qualities, linked with art training, have been  proven to be correlated to future long-term professional success, as kids and teens grow to become adults. Studying the fine arts will encourage them to think outside of the box and hone their problem-solving skills by encouraging them to find new and creative ways to solve issues at hand.

According to the International Child Art Foundation:

“A child who is exposed to the arts acquires a special ability to think creatively, be original, discover, innovate, and create intellectual property - key attributes for individual success and social prosperity in the twenty - first century.”

What We Can Do

  • We teach children  and teenagers how to handle different media with structured approaches that explore the technical aspects of drawing skills first, followed by painting media such as acrylic and watercolours.
  • We encourage art students to adopt new perspectives and see the world with a critical eye.
  • Our expert art tutors will provide art students with a variety of theoretical and academic skills from art historical knowledge to academic practical skills.
  • Art students will explore the technical and theoretical aspects of different subject matter such as still life, landscape and portraiture. This allows students to refine their observational skills.
  • Our Kids and Teens Art Courses also provide art students with professional support to build a body of work that can enhance their portfolios for applications in Higher Education studies.
  • We provide art students with sustained, structured art tuition which we tailor to the needs of each student.
  • We provide engaging art lessons that can boost the art student’s confidence and self-esteem.
  • Our classes encourage art students to bond and cooperate with other students attending our art classes.
  • Classes stimulate art students with new subjects and contemporary approaches to get them to strive to think creatively, be original, discover, and innovate.
  • We also organise educational art workshops at leading art museums and public galleries in London. This will help your child  or teenager develop historical knowledge about art, as well as refine their aesthetic appreciation.
  • We arrange en plein air landscape art workshops in open-air locations such as Kew Gardens, Regent's Park, Hampstead Heath, and many more to provide stimulating environments where to train our art students.

Suitability

  • All our kids and teens art courses are suitable for beginners.
  • Our art tutors have extensive experience in providing support for art students that require tuition for their school projects, GCSE art, A-levels, and foundation degrees (including projects for scholarships and competitions).
  • Our children, kids, and teen art classes are suitable for students from 7 to 18 years old.

HOW CAN WE PROVIDE OUR STUDENTS WITH A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE?

Bespoke Study Plan to Ensure Our Art Course in London Is the Most Suitable for the Student
During the first art lesson, the student will have an introductory session with a dedicated art tutor to help the student understand what he/she needs and what skill level they are working with. This art lesson allows the tutor to create a personalised Study Plan and art course structure that will be most suitable for the student. This Study Plan will provide the overall structure of what the student should follow and achieve during the course to maximise their results.

We Help The Students To Learn About the Right Art Materials
During the introductory lesson, the tutor will go through what art materials the student needs for the art course and how to use them. We recommend buying an acrylic pack with drawing materials as they are the most suitable for beginners at a young age. If you don’t want to purchase your own, we also have our Art Material Packages, all individually designed and assembled for each of our art courses by our tutors, which will save you time. Our acrylic art materials pack comes with the drawing materials altogether, making it easier for you by having all the paints and drawing materials you need, in one place.

Different Art Tutors from the Best Art Academies Worldwide
Our in-house tutors have personally designed and created each of our art courses. They are expert and refined art tutors with prodigious backgrounds from the best international academies and universities such as the Royal Academy of Art and Central Saint Martin’s in London, the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and Athens Academy in Greece. Our art tutors have years of experience teaching art students from all over the world. By being able to book art lessons taught by different tutors, the student can explore different perspectives and approaches on some critical issues covered in this art course. Our tutors work closely together to provide a coherent structure and experience throughout your time here.

Small Groups with Bespoke Art Tuition
We always limit each of our art classes to less than 10 art students, allowing our teachers to work closely with every student and provide individual guidance. According to each student’s study plan, during each lesson, the teacher will arrange the most suitable subject and will teach each student the appropriate techniques. If you are a parent or guardian, while you are waiting for your kid to finish the lesson, you can also sign up for one of our short courses and join our adults' lessons on the upper floor. On Sunday, parking is allowed on the front of the building (After 1 pm on Saturday).

Flexible Timetable to Let You Choose the Days You Want to Attend
When you purchase a course package (e.g. a 60 art lessons course), it will be transferred to your online account. You will be able to log-in and use your course package to book any available art class (see timetable section below). We have art classes every day, and you can book them at any time. Because you can book the time slots that are most suitable for you, you can also choose the starting date of your course as well.

Flexible Credit System to Save You Money
One lesson will be taken from your package only when you book a class. Therefore, you don’t have to book and use all the lessons immediately, but you can book them as you progress with the art course. The system is just like an Oyster card, that you can use as you go.

Our Tutors Will Update the Student’s Progress on Their Account After Each Lesson
After each art lesson, our tutor will leave internal feedback for other tutors to see. This information briefs art tutors from different time slots on the student’s progress, including what was done in the previous art lessons and what should be done in the upcoming ones. Therefore, even if the student leaves for a holiday break, when he/she returns, all their progress history will be saved for our tutors to use to resume the art lessons smoothly.

Manage Your Bookings from Your Online Account
You can easily cancel, reschedule and book your art lessons all from your online account. Please note that we have a 48H cancellation and reschedule policy. We recommend booking your art class at least 2 days in advance or earlier to guarantee enough availability of seats and to give you enough time if you need to reschedule/cancel the session.

Advantages

You can purchase packages that can help your kid develop drawing or painting practices, or both at the same time.

Enjoy our flexible booking system. You can choose the dates and time of the lesson the student can attend by using your ‘My Account’ portal. We have art classes available every day (weekends included).

You can wait for your child to complete their class from the comfort of our lounge at The Sunny Art Centre (with complimentary Wi-Fi and tea) while the lesson is taking place.

Only 10 students are allowed per art lesson so that our teacher can provide individual and targeted advice.

While you are waiting for your kid to finish the lesson, you also have the option to sign up for one of our short courses and join our adults' lessons on the upper floor. On Sunday, parking is allowed on the front of the building (After 1 pm on Saturday).

We provide certificates of completion for students that complete our 40 and 60 lessons courses. We also shortlist a selection of our best students for our yearly student show.

How Are the Kids/Children and Teens Art Courses Structured?

Our children and teen art courses are based on individual tuition with a maximum of 10 students per art class. Students will practice with different subjects and we will personalise their study plan for their course depending on their needs. Therefore, our tutors will closely work with each student, providing them with step-by-step guidance.

You will have an online account to book any of our weekday and weekend art lessons for your kid via our website. Bookings will allow the tutors to know that your kid is coming and arrange the suitable subjects according to the feedback our tutors have about the student's progress. In fact, your account will also be used by our tutors to leave feedback about your kid's development which is shared with all the other teachers. This information allows tutors from different time slots to be briefed on our students' progress, including what each student did in the previous lessons, and what they should do in the upcoming ones. This means that we can always provide your kids with structured and sustained tuition throughout the whole art course.

As all our art tutors are briefed on your kid's progress, the time slots you book each week do not need to be on the same days and with the same art tutors. Therefore, you can choose your own timetable as each lesson is personalised, allowing you to select any of the available time slots for your art course. As we understand that many parents have busy schedules, our art courses are the only ones in London that let you shape your own timetable.

If you have enrolled your kid for a particular art course, our tutors will cover all the necessary technical skills and guidelines that they should practice (see the tables below for each course). We encourage students to attend art lessons with different tutors as well. Many of them have different approaches to something your kid may be working on, therefore enriching the student's views on how to approach a subject or a technique.

Safety and Protection

The safety and security of your kids is our utmost priority. We always ensure that protective measures are in place so that you can rest easy, knowing that your child is in a safe place.

  • Our tutors are all DBS checked, and two staff members are always present and available in case extra support is needed while a tutor is teaching a class .
  • Our CCTV cameras cover every corner of the studio, providing you with extra eyes that will look after your kid's safety.
  • Our centre is located in a safe area on Gray' Inn Road next to Chancery Lane underground station and right in the heart of London.

Please note that for kids under 16 years old, you will need to create an account and book the lessons on their behalf as per GDPR laws.

The Centre’s team of art tutors has an incredibly strong academic background. They honed their valuable skills and were trained at some of the most prestigious institutions in the world, including the Royal Academy of Arts and Central Saint Martin's in London, the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, The Athens Academy in Greece, and the Florence Academy of Art, The extraordinary efforts of the Sunny Art Centre team ensure that the organisation can continuously deliver cutting-edge art tuition.
