Reminiscence – Revisiting the British Landscape

The Paintings of Rodney Bastable will be on show at the Sunny Arts Centre, featuring his relationship with the natural forms of the British landscape. He has taken inspiration from artists such as Cezanne and Matisse who looked to their homes under the wonderful Mediterranean skies.

In regard to 'Modern Painters’ (1843) by John Ruskin, which was written in defence of the Romantic Landscape painter J. M. W. Turner, Bastable continues to follow his philosophy that the principal role of the artist is to retain a "truth to nature".
