London Art Short Course

DRAWING CLASSES

Drawing Classes

“Drawing is the necessary beginning of everything, and not having it, one has nothing.” Donatello

The foundation of all traditional artistic training, an introduction to drawing will serve to hone the eye and develop the hand of any aspiring artist. A drawing course is recommended prior to any painting course; the understanding of line, proportion, and tone is fundamental to painting, as it is to all composition.

A leader in art education, the Sunny Art Centre has established itself as one of the most favoured destinations to study art in London. The efforts of our tutors ensure that the Centre can continuously deliver new cutting-edge methods and techniques to facilitate our students’ engagement with art, thus cementing the Centre’s first-class reputation in London.

Our art tutors have unparalleled fine art background from prestigious art institutions worldwide, such as the Royal Academy of Art and Central Saint Martin's in London, and the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Their expertise guarantees a professional approach. Furthermore, it will ensure that the drawing techniques covered during the course will be demonstrated for easier assimilation. Also, each art lesson is based on individual tuition, and a maximum of 10 art students are allowed per drawing class.

Our drawing classes are held in our central London art school, next to Chancery Lane underground station, during both weekdays and weekends. The flexibility of our drawing courses allows you to choose the time slots you want to attend from our choice of up to 16 classes per week. The flexibility of our drawing courses and the individual tuition make our art lessons the most suitable match for people with a busy schedule and who need flexible time slots.

Our online booking only takes 3 minutes, and you can choose your starting date. Book your course now and start improving your drawing skills.

Suitability

Drawing techniques are at the foundation of almost every art practice. This course is suitable for those looking to learn the very basics of drawing techniques as well as people with drawing experience wishing to refine their practice. Our drawing course is also suitable for those who wish to improve their painting practice by first grasping the fundamentals of drawing. You can expect to achieve:

  • Sound knowledge of the materials and tools involved in drawing
  • A full comprehension of form as depicted through light and shade
  • An understanding of how to give volume and texture to your drawings
  • A solid knowledge of how to represent form with a monochromatic approach
  • The ability to design precise and convincing spatial relationships between the objects or figures in your drawings

HOW IS THE ART COURSE STRUCTURED?

Our art courses are based on individual tuition with a maximum of 10 students per art class. Students will practice with different subjects and we will personalise their study plan for their course depending on their needs. Therefore, our tutors will closely work with each student, providing them with step by step guidance.

You will have an online account to book any of our weekday and weekend art lessons via our website. Bookings will allow the tutors to know that you are coming and arrange the suitable subjects according to the feedback on your account. In fact, your account will also be used by our tutors to leave feedback about your progress which is shared with all the other teachers. This information allows tutors from different time slots to be briefed on your progress, including what you did in the previous lessons, and what you should do in the upcoming ones, so to provide you with structured and sustained tuition throughout the whole art course.

As all our art tutors are briefed on your progress, the time slots you book each week do not need to be on the same days and with the same art tutors. This means you can choose your own timetable as each lesson is personalised, allowing you to choose any of the available time slots for this art course.

If you have enrolled for a particular art course, our tutors will cover all the necessary technical skills and guidelines that you should practice (see the tables below for each course). We encourage students to attend art lessons with different tutors as well. Many of them have different approaches to something you may have to learn, therefore enriching your views on how to approach a subject or a technique.

HOW CAN WE PROVIDE YOU WITH A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE?

Bespoke Study Plan to Ensure Our Art Course in London Is the Most Suitable for You
During your first art lesson, you will have an introductory session with a dedicated art tutor to help you understand what you will need to focus on, and your skill level. This art lesson allows the tutor to create a personalised Study Plan and art course structure that will be most suitable for you. This Study Plan will provide an overall structure that lays out what you should follow and achieve during your course to maximise your results.

Different Art Tutors from the Best Art Academy
Our tutors designed and created each of our art courses. They are expert, refined art tutors with prodigious backgrounds from the best international academies and universities such as the Royal Academy of Art and Central Saint Martin’s in London, the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and Athens Academy in Greece. Our art tutors have years of experience teaching art students from all over the world. By virtue of  being able to book art lessons taught by different tutors, you can explore different perspectives and approaches on some critical issues covered in this art course. Our tutors work closely together to provide a coherent structure and experience throughout your time here.

Small Groups with Bespoke Art Tuition
We always limit each of our art classes to less than 10 art students, allowing our teachers to work closely with every student and provide individual guidance. According to each student’s Study Plan, during each lesson, the teacher will arrange the most suitable subject for you and will teach each student appropriate techniques.

Flexible Timetable to Let You Choose the Days You Want to Attend
When you purchase a course package (e.g. a 60 art lessons course), it will be transferred to your online account. You will be able to log-in and use your course package to book any available art class (see timetable section below). We have art classes every day, and you can book them at any time. Because you can book the time slots that are most suitable for you, you can also choose your starting date as well.

Flexible Credit System to Save You Money
One lesson will be taken from your package only when you book a class. Therefore, you don’t have to book and use all the lessons immediately, but you can book them as you progress with the art course. The system is just like an Oyster Card; you use as you go.

Our Tutors Will Update Your Progress on Your Account After Each Lesson
After each art lesson, our tutor will leave internal feedback for other tutors to see. This information briefs art tutors from different time slots on your progress, including what you did in the previous art lessons and what you should do in the upcoming ones. Therefore, even if you leave for a holiday break, when you return, all your progress history will be saved there for our tutors to use to resume your art lessons.

Manage Your Bookings from Your Online Account
You can easily cancel, reschedule and book your art lessons all from your online account. Please note that we have a 48H cancellation and reschedule policy. We recommend booking art classes at least 2 days or earlier to guarantee enough availability of seats and to give you enough time if you need to reschedule/cancel the session.

ART MATERIALS PACKS

Using the right art materials playing an essential role in the art course.  You can prepare your art materials by yourself from this list, to avoid the trouble of mistakenly purchasing the wrong art materials. Our art tutors have designed a variety of drawing and painting art materials packages specifically for our art courses with promising quality. They contain all the necessary art tools that you will need to use during the art lessons. You can pre-order online in the checkout page, or via this link: Art Material Packages.
